To Zeus
by Chris Marbutt
Mighty Zeus, you descend to earth
In lightning, exploding the deep.
Our hearts beat wildly before you.
Everlasting is your power,
Father of the Deathless Ones.
From your head sprang forth Pallas Athena,
And in your thigh you hid the infant Dionysus.
By you cities are lost or won.
Be moved by our prayer,
Bull roaring Heaven Lord.
Nod your august head,
And bless us here.
